This was a 3 week pose we did in October at the Zoll Studio's open session. I wish I could have had maybe one more session to smooth out some of the color. It looks a little "patchy" to me. Although, I do like the spontaneity my brushstrokes have when painting from life.

This painting is 36" x 48" in its entirety.
I worked on this head painting in two sessions from life at the Zoll Studio in Timonium, Maryland. Molly, the model, was excellent to work from.

The reference I had for this painting was really great, but I found myself struggling with color temperature. I think it ended up alright, but it was definitely a challenge. I had a lot of fun with reflected light.

Jazmyn

This is a head study for a larger painting I'm doing of Jazmyn playing the piano. I'm especially trying to get the values right here.

3 Tiny Apples

3 Apples
2" x 4"
Oil

These are my favorite kind of apples. They are tiny and they cost 25 cents at Wegman's. Tiny apples make great for a tiny painting.
